Lilija Lipora is a choreographer, dance artist, movement director and producer working across contemporary dance, theatre and interdisciplinary performance. Her practice includes both stage productions and performances created for non-traditional spaces.
At the core of her artistic practice is movement as a language of communication and human connection, with a particular interest in personal experience, identity and belonging. Her work explores intersections between contemporary dance, music, theatre and traditional culture, as well as the ways in which specific places and environments can shape both the creation of a work and the audience’s experience.
Lilija is the founder and artistic director of the international contemporary dance festival VIDES DEJA. Since 2011, the festival has been developing site-specific dance practice in Latvia, fostering collaboration between artists, local communities and places across the country.
Under the name STARS’ WELL, Lilija creates and produces contemporary dance and theatre performances, as well as interdisciplinary art projects. She also works as a dance educator and continues to perform as a dance artist.
